Aiden Hreschuk's four blocked shots, goal, and assist powered 16-4-1 Boston College past a struggling Merrimack team.
The third line, which consisted of Jack Malone, Jaimie Armstrong, and Will Vote started the game, which was a move that immediately paid off for Greg Brown as Hreschuk buried a rebound passed Hugo Ollas after Vote took a hit to make a play and Armstrong fed it in front of the net.
After the third line scored their second goal of the first period off the stick of Jack Malone, his first of two goals, it was time for the freshman line to go to work. This time it was Gabe Perreault on a breakaway threading the needle through the five-hole of Ollas. This proved to be the game winner
Merrimack would go on to net an even strength goal and a power-play goal later in the game, but from the beginning, the game was as lopsided as can be, with BC notching 14 shots on goal to Merrimack's six in the first period.
On a different note, at one point during the second period, there were four completely separate minor penalties (two per team) going on at the same time which led to some mid-game three on three hockey. Malone took advantage as he skated himself onto a two on one and lasered his second goal of the game past Ollas's left shoulder.
Overall, these were two necessary wins for the Eagles who continue their quest for championships come February, March, and April. Onto BU week we go!
